Bethlehem, Pa. - The Navy women's track & field stands in third place with four points following the first day of competition at the 2005 Patriot League Indoor Championship in Bethlehem, Pa.
Sophomore multi-event athlete Danielle Still ( Bishop Eustace Prep,Lawnside, N.J.) gave Navy its early team points by placing fourth in the pentathlon with 3,058 points.
"Danielle got off to a good start in the pentathlon, but slowed down near the end," head coach Carla Criste said. "But we're off and running with some team points and we'll see what tomorrow brings."
In the pentathlon's first event, Still posted a top time of 9.06 in the 60-meter hurdles to earn 897 points. She followed by leaping 4'8-3/4" in the high jump (555 points) and then posted a top throw of 40'1-1/4" in the shot put (676 points).
Still concluded her day of competition with a jump of 15'9-3/4" in the long jump for 511 points and ran a time of 2:54.40 in the 800 meters (419 points).
Bucknell's Nina Reinhardt (3,184 points) and Danielle Todman (3,070) placed first and second, respectively, to give the Bison 20 points and the overall team lead following day one of the championship. Lehigh is in second with seven team points following Katharine Hessler's third-place performance in the pentathlon with 3,062 points.
